The
Jaguar Ecological Reserve is not a luxury
hotel – guests seeking swimming pools, television and air-conditioning
may prefer to stay at hotels closer to Cuiabá or Poconé. We
are proud to offer a comfortable lodge in a remote yet accessible
setting. We are surrounded by some of the Pantanal’s finest
wildlife habitat. By staying with us you directly contribute
to a successful ecotourism program in the heart of the Pantanal.
We
have expanded and improved the lodge significantly in the
past four years. We are happy to report that we now offer
9 guest rooms, with a total of 18 single beds. Each room is
fully furnished and has a private bath, mosquito nets, fan,
and porch with hammocks. We use a generator and solar panels
for electricity. Hot water is available daily.
Guests
enjoy family-style dining in our newly remodeled dining room.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as afternoon tea are included.
We specialize in local dishes prepared from local ingredients.
Fresh fruits and vegetables from our gardens, fish caught
in nearby rivers and streams, and beef and poultry from our
ranch provide the basis for delicious meals. Our guests regularly
rate our meals as among the best they have during their visits
to Brazil.
We also offer a selection of ice-cold Brazilian beer, soft-drinks and bottled water. Imported wines from Chile and Argentina and assorted cocktails are available. Our specialty is the Brazilian caipirinha – a blend of sugarcane rum, fresh limes, sugar and crushed ice that is the perfect treat after a day of exploring!
In 2006 we will open a small shop at the lodge offering an
assortment of locally-produced crafts and clothing. This is
an ideal way to assist and promote the work of local artisans.
We are officially registered with the Brazilian Ministry of Tourism. Our Embratur registration number is MT.20.00.097.834/301-67. If you would like to contact other guests who have stayed at the Jaguar Ecological Reserve, please let us know and we will put you in touch by phone or e-mail.
